There are major and minor wandering thoughts. Our minor wandering thoughts only obstruct our wisdom; they do not increase our afflictions. Major wandering thoughts not only obstruct our wisdom but also increase our afflictions; such coarse wandering thoughts are called fundamental afflictions. There are fundamental and derivative afflictions. There are six fundamental afflictions: craving, aversion, delusion, arrogance, doubt, and wrong views.
